Our Real Estate attorneys provide the full scope of commercial and residential real estate law representation and strategic business advice.

We represent developers, lenders, investors, tenants, landlords and others in the acquisition, development, financing, selling, leasing and management of properties throughout the United States. Our clients are large publicly-held companies, public pension funds, private companies, partnerships, joint ventures and individuals.

Our clients expect, deserve and receive ingenuity and responsiveness throughout all phases of real estate transactions and other property issues. In the planning stage we help strategize and structure the deal to most effectively meet our clients' goals. As a matter progresses, we work closely with our clients to identify problems and implement solutions.

representing clients in the purchase and sale of real property
representing landlords and tenants in the leasing of retail, industrial, commercial, residential, medical and general office properties
representing developers and national retailers in the acquisition of real property, including site development and property due diligence, contract implementation and government authorizations
representing borrowers and lenders in construction and permanent financing, as well as representing parties in special forms of financing, such as industrial revenue bond financing, hospital bond financing and other forms of tax-exempt and taxable bond financing
providing integrated advice and services for any aspect of a real estate transaction, including creating limited liability companies and other business entities, assessing the tax consequences of the transaction, structuring tax-free exchanges and other ancillary services
evaluating the economic risks due to environmental concerns and compliance costs
creating reciprocal and appurtenant interest in real property
resolving and creating title liens and encumbrances
Our group works closely with Benchmark Title Agency, Inc. to deliver commercial and residential title insurance and ancillary services, including performing title searches, preparing for and holding closings, providing escrow services and construction draws.


Notable Engagements


Easton Town Center- Represented developer/ landlord in development of and leasing for upscale entertainment center in the heart of Easton Town Center, the largest development in central Ohio in the late 1990's.

Columbus International Air Center- Outside counsel to purchaser/ owner/ landlord in acquisition of former United States Air Force facility adjacent to Port Columbus International Airport, including negotiation of acquisition with U.S. Air Force and U.S. General Services Administration, environmental remediation of property, creation of access rights to taxiways and runways of Port Columbus "thru the fence" for owner and tenants of the property with the Columbus Metropolitan Airport Authority and negotiation of leases (including leases with national airlines) in the development of the facility.

DSW Shoe Warehouse- Outside counsel for all leasing for a fast growing national retailer challenging traditional concepts in the sale of finer footwear.

Represent City of Dublin in all facets of real estate acquisition and development.

Lead real estate counsel for consortium of banks on $175,000,000 construction loan/line of credit.

Sole counsel for Skilken Companies, a regional developer of shopping centers for Kroger, CVS and other national retailers.

Real estate counsel to major national retail tenants, including The Limited, Inc. (Bath & Body Works, Victoria's Secret, Lane Bryant and Express) and Consolidated Stores Corporation (Odd Lots, Big Lots and Odd Lots/Big Lots Furniture) in leasing retail locations in a variety of regional enclosed malls, power center, mixed-use projects, community strip centers and urban street front sites.
